The jacket I received is amazing. In my opinion, horsehide is the best choice for a leather jacket. The texture, feel, patina and even the smell is like no other. So great to touch and extremely supple, yet very strong and durable. It will age well and get better with age, just more and more character. It’s remarkable just how comfortable and easy the horsehide feels considering how robust it is. An absolute pleasure to wear.
I received in the mail exactly what I ordered and the process was easy. Customer service was wonderful. The whole process did not take long, maybe 4 weeks total.
David Himel personally called me for his insight and consultation. The color I chose is very unique. It’s probably because of the vegetable tanning process. The color of the jacket is a rich dark brown, however, it appears as a burgundy type reddish-brown color when I’m out in the sunlight. This variation in color gives the jacket a uniqueness I love. Other details in the jacket such as the stitching with cotton thread and side fasteners are high quality and the work of skilled craftsmen.
In summary, the jacket is everything I dreamed it would be and the veg-tanned horsehide material is definitely the best. The style of jacket is a perfect combination of North American style and utilitarian workwear. This captures the essence of leather jackets. I am looking forward to many great memories with the jacket.
